Video | LG responds to spy TVs accusations

This has been a horrifying saga. YouTube channel Gamers Nexus has been exposing how LG’s televisions are actively spying on their users while denying it.

Most (maybe all) smart TVs are built around what the industry calls «Automatic Content Recognition», that is, the gathering of data about the people using the TV for sale to advertisers. While horrific as it is, Gamers Nexus have shown how sets by LG go beyong that, listening, recording and sending audio and more without the users knoledge or consent, umprompted and even after the user has opted out (which LG makes super difficult to impossible, of course).

So much so, that LG executives even claim to «own the glass» and «own the living room» of the customers when selling their advertising service to other companies.

And I’m sure other companies do the same…
