As is tradition every year, at the Matchbox Gathering of Friends in Albuquerque, the Matchbox Team from Mattel presented their new models for the next year. And since Lamley allowed us around the world to watch the presentation live (thank you John!), I share with you the highlights. To me, it feels like the Team is putting more effort on the Moving Parts lineup, which would be awesome if it was 1. available around the world and 2. at the equivalent prices of the US, vs. the Basic lineup.
Basics: Great news, some very Matchbox (like the Morgan, a historical British convertible that has never been done by Matchbox!), my favourite are probably the Astra, Jaguar XJ6 coupé, Ford Fiesta (all three very British too, if only the Astra gets tampoed as a Vauxhall as well!), Pathfinder, Citroën, Golf (it is the electric, cool choice), the old SL and Tonale (although Majorette is coming soon with a better one).

David Tilley also shows a mysterious… Ford Courier? And future Mattel Creations Porsche and Indiana Jones Jeep. The Porsche looks great, Mattel should give their Creations reasonable international shipping options! (like, from Thailand instead of the US?).
